Item C7 - Welles & Wilcox (Rocky Hill, Conn). 3 ˝ “ Carpenter’s Slick.

Welles
& Wilcox made chisels in Rocky Hill, Connecticut (of Dinosaur fame) about 1868.
This wide (3 ˝ inch) slick is a great example of their work. This large chisel
has a clean blade, with no pitting and a clear mark. The blade measures 8
inches from edge to shoulders and 13 ˝ inches to the top of the socket. The
proper white oak handle adds another 12 inches to the total length. The blade
has moderate tarnish, but no pitting and a very smooth back. This is one of the
better slicks that I’ve seen in some time. Fine
