Item D12 - A. J. Wilkinson (Boston).  Patent Folding Draw Knife.

A. J. Wilkinson was a large hardware store in Boston in the late 1800s and early 1900s that had a worldwide clientele.  While they contracted with various tool companies to make tools for them, they apparently made their own draw knives.  This example, with an 8 inch edge length is one of those tools.  It has distinctive hardwood handles (there is small check at the base of the right handle),  a uniform tarnishing of the metal, and just a few widely scattered spots of light pitting on the top of the blade.  The back is flat and clean with a lot of hard steel below the lamination.  The underside is marked with the July 16, 1895 patent date awarded to Wilkinson.  The total wing span of the knife, with the handles unfolded is about 14 inches.  Easily Good+
