Ths 9” size No. 36 level needs a bit of cleaning to deal with tarnish on the top an bottom surfaces, but is otherwise in top condition. It has the grooved bottom for shafting work, and nearly all of its original shiny japanning. This is an example of the variety made with brass vials and eclipse covers that were not nickel plated. This apparently was due to the shortage of nickel during WWII, when this level was made. Fine.
