Item MA11 - Jaeger Watch Co. (NY) “U.S. Air Forces” Speed Indicator.
A
new machinist’s speed indicator in my experience, this boxed precision
instrument (with instructions) is a product of the Jaeger Watch Co. of 304 E. 45th
St., NY. NY. Missing one of the two provided tips, the tool is otherwise in
perfect condition. Marked on the back, “U.S. Air Forces”, with serial and
mfgr’s numbers. This speed indicator probably dates from the 1950s. By holding
the tip against a moving spindle or shaft, and pressing a plunger, a timing
device is actuated, that provides an accurate measure of the tip rotations in
revolutions per second. It is a must for a collection of speed indicators.
