This plane, from Stanley's Handyman line of inexpensive tools, apparently appeared only in Stanley's 1964 catalog, and then disappeared. This smooth plane is a bit different, having a 9 inch sole length (like a No. 4), but a 1 3/4 inch blade (like a No. 3). The plane has black-painted hardwood handles (there is a scrape on the knob), and gray painted bed with nickled lever cap and blade adjustment knob. It is in its original pasteboard box with a quite colorful full label. It is in fine condition and is a plane for anyone with a Handyman collection or the young hands of a woodworker in training. Fine.
