This single plane of a pair of table plane, cuts the hollow side with a width of ½”. One distinction of the plane is that the right side of the plane has been decorated with painted figures (flowers, birds, hearts) in a colorful fashion reminiscent of the Pennsylvania Dutch . The artist signed the painting, “A.S”.The plane is double marked on the nose by both H. Chapin, and a Vermont hardware store (“…ing H’dw Co. ..ington, Vt). This might be Burlington, Arlington, or another, but it is clearly a Vermont store. The plane is clean with little wear, has a good wedge, and the decoration really “makes’ it. Fine.
