Item B17 - Wooden Bit Brace.
This smaller chair maker’s style brace is fashioned from beech with a turned
top handle rotates freely. The brace has a short sweep (about 6 inches), and is
clean, without cracks or chips. This style brace accepts “clothespin” style
pads, one of which comes with the brace. It is equipped with a about a ¾”
center bit. This style of pad looks like a nice little woodworking project to
populate a brace like this with a larger set of pads. While the pad does not
look original to the brace, it is of the style. It is a nice old brace of its
sort, and could even be used. Good+
