Item BK1 - Cooper’s 1874 Daily Journal.
This
most interesting journal has daily notes from Jan. 2, 1874 to Dec. 30, 1874.
The scribe was John Adams who had a coopering business in Palmero, New York. The
daily inscriptions cover the numbers of barrels shipped, receiving supplies of
hoops, wood, jointing staves, etc. Apparently barter for flour, meal, animal
feed, etc was occurring. Several coopers worked in the shop, and Mr. Adams
greatly enjoyed sleighing and skating in the winter. This a great look at life
in a 19th century cooperage. Fine
