This WWII era jack plane contains just about every feature that changed during the wartime scarcities. The blade is marked with the manufacturing date of the 4th quarter of 1941; there is no nickel or brass trim. The blade adjustment knob is blued steel as are the handle screws. The frog adjustment screw is non-existent. The handles are stained hardwood, and the sidewalls of the body are cast in the thick manner. About the only aspect that is not proper to the type is tab piece under the end of the lateral lever. Better than 90 percent of the original finishes are here, and a light cleaning is all that is needed. Fine.
