Item P9 - Stanley No. 5 Jack Plane. Type 19 (1948-61).
Stanley’s most popular plane, and the basic hand plane for any woodworker’s
shop. This example dates roughly to the 1950s, when the shortages of WWII were
a thing of the past, and brass, nickel plating and rosewood returned to the
planes. This plane has most of its original finishes, and no cracks or chips in
the wood or metal. The nickel on the lever cap is bright, and the japanning is
just about complete. This will be a pleasure to use and look at in the shop.
Fine.
