Item RB1 - Stanley No. 1 Improved Try Square.
The Stanley No.1 improved try square began life in 1871 with a frame made of
cast iron, with rosewood infill. In 1888 this morphed into the Stanley No 10
inlaid try square, with a heavier cast iron from and reinforced blade. This is
the early form with lighter frame and simple blade. In very nice condition this
does not have problems with the rosewood infill, nor any cracks in the casting.
The blade has light splotchyness, and a light stamp by an owner, “D. Holt.” The
blade is 6 inches long. Good+
