Item S17 - Saw Wrest. English Style

This handsome saw wrest makes a quick and easy way to set rip and crosscut saws. With a little knack an experienced saw guy can apply set to saw teeth quickly and easily. The wrest, in a style similar to those made by Marples, has a bulbous turned beech wood handle (with fine, close grain) and a steel blade that is 4 ½ inches long and 1 1/8 inch wide. The blade has a strong steel ferrule at its base. On each side of the blade are series of seven slots, ranging from about 1/16” to 3/16” wide. These receive the teeth of a saw, and a turn of the wrist applies the set. Simple and effective. Fine.
