Item WC9 - Swordfish Bill.  Unusually long and slender.

This swordfish “bill” (really the upper jaw [rostral bones] of the swordfish, Xiphias gladius, is larger than  you usually see, and has been cleaned much better than you usually find them.  This very symmetrically tapered and slim bill is 37 inches long, and has a width at the base of 3 ½ inches.  It straight, and has almost no vertical bowing.  Well cleaned, it is well prepared for engraving (scrimshaw), painting, or fashioning it into a hilted sword.  I’ve not seen a nicer one.  It is a great conversation piece.  Fine.
